How to tether using the i465

Hey, here im going to give you the steps on how to set up an internet connection, using your boost/nextel i465.
Youre going to need:

-an i465
-a computer
-a usb cable (buy one off ebay for 99 cents if you dont have one)

1. Setting up your internet connection:

Youre going to need to set up an internet connection. Now this internet connection will be like setting up a dial up connection. I wouldnt reccomend using this as your primary internet connection (I use mine as a back up connection)

1. Go "Start", "Control Panel", "Network Connections"
2. Then go to "Create a new network connection", then click next
3. "Connect to the internet", "Setup my connection manually", "Connect using a dial up modem"
4. For the isp name, make it something like "Boost Connect" or something close to that.
5. For the phone number, type this exactly: S=2#777
6. Just leave the account information blank, and select if you want it to be your defualt connection, and if you want to have an icon on your desktop, just check the boxes and click "Finish"

2. Configuring the connection you just made:

Now you need to configure the network settings for the connection you just made. Heres what to do.

1. Go "Start", "Connect to >", then you should see the boost connection youve made. Right click it, and and select "Properties".
2. Click on the tab "General", then click "Configure". The normal bps speed is usually "57600". And be sure to check that your phone is set to at least "56700", or you can set it to "Auto". Make sure that only the box "Enable hardware flow control" Then press ok.
3. Now go "Properties" window, the "Type of dial-up server I am calling", should be "PPP". If its not, select it from the drop down menu. "PPP: WIndows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet". Then select settings.
4. PPP settings should come up, and have 3 options. "Enable LCP extentions", and "Negotiate multi-link for single link connections", need to be UNCHECKED. "Enable software compression", should be the only one checked. Then select "Ok".
5. At "Properties", select "Ok"

3. Downloading the USB iDen Drivers:

1. Go to: HERE

Now after all of this is done, you need to restart your computer. After windows has completley loaded up, then connect your phone to your computer, and windows should recognize it as a new device. Then after its recognized, click on the connection you just made, connect your phone, then select "Connect".

Great, now youre using your i465 as an internet modem. I dont consider using this as a primary connection, and isnt good for uploading/downloading stuff. Thanks. -Chris
